    Dear Brains.

I just read your post about the Think Dirty-app, and it reminded me of something I’ve been wondering about from time to time:
What is the deal with the cocktail effect when it comes to cosmetic ingredients? I’ve heard a lot of “experts” say that we don’t know what happens when we are exposed to so many chemicals, and how they work together. I would love to hear what you think, because I don’t know what to think about it.
By the way, I love what you’re saying about people being way more likely to develop cancer from cigarettes, alcohol and sun. I really have a hard time taking anyone that drinks alcohol regularly and/or smokes seriously when they talk about how we should worry about what we put on our skin.
I hope you can answer my question! :)

i knew someone who did all three and fiercely defended her right to do so.
she was equally angry about “innocuous” ingredients in anything else.

was so angry about product “xyz” giving her wrinkles, baldness and cancer
rather than smoking, boozing and uv/ab rays.

It’s more convenient to blame Big Beauty than it is your own bad habits (smoking, drinking, etc.)
