Hi, I put your guide to buying companies cheaper products to the test.  I looked at foundations. In particular Chanels Vitalumiere and Bourjous (own by Chanel) Healthy Mix Serum.  This is what I came up with.  I would like to know if you think my assumptions are correct?
What are the first five ingredients for each?
    CHANEL VITALUMIERE
    AQUA (WATER)
    ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE
    NEOPENTYL GLYCOL DIETHYLHEXANOATE
    CYCLOPENTASILOXANE
    TALC
    BOURJOUS HEALTHY MIX SERUM
    Water
    Dimethicone
    Cyclopentasiloxane
    Butylene Glycol
    PEG-10 Dimethicone

    How do they compare?
I’m trying to see if the chanel product is really justifies the price/is better.
Would it be that the Chanel branded product has slightly greater levels of skin lubricating and emollient product than silicones?  Also, would the 5 ingredients be more refined (expensive) alternatives to those used in the Bourjous?  So justify the greater cost of the product?
If not, I can’t really see how the Chanel is better than the Bourjous.  They are both primarily made up of emollient, silicone, talc/starch and of course water.
    Am I correct?

It looks to me like the big difference is that the Chanel product has an SPF where as the Bourjous product does not.

Thanks Randy, so is TALC the SPF in the Chanel product?

No, Octinoxate is the sunscreen active. Talc is not a sunscreen.
