This is what I’ve settled on after years of trial and error (I also recently moved from the East to the West Coast and it seems to work just as well):

Philosophy Purity cleanser (morning and night)
Cetaphil Restoraderm moisturizer (morning and night)
Elta MD UV Shield SPF 45 (every morning)
    Vichy eye cream (every night)
Clarisonic brush (every 2nd or 3rd day)
Perfect Image Glycolic Acid 30% Gel Peel (every 2-3 weeks)
That’s about it. These are the things I’ve been consistently buying and using for months or years and they keep my combination acne-prone skin relatively calm. When I break out, I use Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask as a spot treatment (random, I know). What do other people use regularly?

Warm water and a wash cloth, scrub daily.  Every morning I use a mix of jojoba oil/water/glycerin as a moisturizer.  That’s it. No more wrinkles than 10 yr. ago when I started doing this (I’m 58 now).

I have recently been using argan oil on the skin under my eyes and cheeks (not nose as it breaks out ever so slightly) and have seen great results. I’m 30, light olive skin. I really recommend trying it!

I’m suffering from hormonal acne (peri-menopausal) arrival of big wrinkles and kind of drooping of my face into flappy jowls and impending double chin. I’ve been perfecting my routine for a year – and I change it a bit in the summer (hot and sticky here in Italy).  Most of the products I use are from an Italian Eco/Bio outfit that makes small batches of creams and then sends them overnight – when it comes to antioxidants & etc. I have found that this freshness really counts. OMG, their marketing is NOT slick at all – they use gnomes and hand-painted art – but the formulations are solid and the dispensers are modern (mostly airless- pumps).

    This is my daily routine…
    AM.
    – Wash and light scrub with Lepo 3 Phase Cleanser (cleanser, scrub & white clay mask)
    – Fitocose Anti Age Fluid with Vitamin C on full face except eyes
    – Fitocose Witchhazel Eye Gel
    – Fitocose Anti Age Moisturizer with Ginko Bilboa (with retinol and other goodies)
    – Bottega Verde Anti-age 50+ Sun Screen
    – Make-up or just face powder to take the stickiness of the sun screen away (Italians like to kiss each other’s cheeks and it’s not cool to stick to them when you do it ; )
    PM
    – Remove make-up with IN’s make-up removal towelettes (with mainly almond oil)
    – Wash face with gentle cleanser – right now using Fitocose with the essence of Tricolor Violet for acne-prone skin
    – Apply tonic – either Witchazel or Malva (Mallow?) Tonic from Fitocose
    – Add a dash of Airol .05% (Italian Retin-A) – mostly on the whole face but once a week I also do near the eyes, lids and neck.
    –  Repairing Serum Fitocose Jalus Plus (with niacinamide and other good stuff)
    – On the lips, and sometimes eyes, Fitocose Pure 100% Karite’ Butter
Every time I try to deviate from this routine I get massive break-outs. So I stay pretty much within these parameters to keep my face at peace.
Previously I was using alternating AHA’s and BHA’s every other night (I had to build up to it).
My skin finally looks ok, but still nothing is really working for my jowls or double chin but since the rest of the face looks great they are less noticeable (to me).  Part of it might also be the supplements I’m taking to counter-act my early menopause. The herbalist has me on Lipoic acid nutritional supplements and 45 days in at a daily 200mg dose I think it’s affecting more than my moods and energy – my skin suddently feels more “stretchy” and young.
Of course I’m much more active than I was last year since I do group dancing 2-3 times a week and Goshindo twice a week.  Whereas before I was slouching around depressed and doing nothing for myself. I think all of this extra activity and sweating is also helping my skin.
After the summer, if I get the nerves, I’m going to try derma-rolling my chin/neck to see if that can’t tighten-up the jowls and chin a bit.

I can’t recommend the Elta MD UV Physical strongly enough for someone looking for a tinted sunscreen suitable for sensitive skin.  Fixed my sensitive skin problems and is my only makeup base (along with powder) most days.  Unlike the skinceuticals tinted sunscreen, it isn’t drying.  Nor is it greasy.  Just right.

And I use Paula’s Choice skin recovery cleanser.  Love it, it takes the makeup off.
