    Hello,

I’m trying to find alternatives to antiperspirants with aluminum chlorohydrates and the best I’ve found so far was a Nivea product that does not contain aluminum  but it has alcohol instead.
So since alcohol is also considered a bad thing for your armpit skin, I’d like to know which one is the worst and why is alcohol seen as a vilain.
    Thanks! :)

    The quick answer is this:

Aluminum chlorohydrate is a very effective wetness fighting agent. However, some people find it to be too irritating. (There is also a lot of misinformation out there saying aluminum salts cause Alzheimer’s and breast cancer but this is not true.)
Alcohol does NOT stop you from sweating but if used in high enough concentrations it can kill odor causing bacteria. The problem is that the alcohol quickly evaporates and then the bacteria just grow back. (That’s why antibacterial agents like Triclosan are used – they last all day long.) Another problem with alcohol is that it’s drying to skin because it can mess up the skin’s natural moisture barrier.
If you haven’t already you should try another type of aluminum salt: Aluminum Zirconium Trichlorohydrex GLY.
It is very effective and not as irritating.
