I’ve read quite a few times now about people diluting their shampoo with water before using it. The ratio varies, but it’s roughly 1 part shampoo to 5 parts water.

Does this seem like a good, hair-protective idea? Or would it simply not clean as well?

Bad idea – the shampoo may not work as well, it could cause conditioning agents to separate, and (worst of all) it will compromise the preservative system of the product which may lead to it becoming contaminated.

Add same proportion of apple cider vinegar and distilled water to wash hairs..a great hair fall remedy is it,also give a shine to your hairs..try this..beer shampoo is also good for hairs..

moreover diluting shampoo is better than direct application of shampoo on the scalp..

Regarding “diluting shampoo is better than direct application on the scalp:” If your scalp is sensitive to certain shampoo ingredients you’re better off changing shampoos to avoid those ingredients rather than diluting the shampoo to lower their concentrations.

Ahh okay, thanks for the info Randy. And everybody else :)

It does seem like a bit of a faff to have to dilute shampoos.

Stop it Eva, you cannot clean hair with apple cider vinegar. It’s not a surfactant!

Been doing this for the longest time. Diluting shampoo with water. Time to change.
