Hi beauty brains. I was looking for ways to save money on hair products. I heard about curly hair women using home made flex seed gel. Its a big movement going on curly hair women wearing their own hair and stop doing damaging things to our hair. Flex seed gel is made just by boiling flex seeds in water, the water evaporate then flex seed gel left. Does flex seed gel have strong holding power as store bought gel? Any studies? Aveda an shea moisture use flex seed in their gel. I like the tresemme gel mega hold that beauty brains recommended. It works well the grafix aka vp/ methyl dimithicone something. Im not sure. Thanks.

I’m not sure I understand you question. Are you talking about flax seed? And are you asking if it will hold as well as “regular” hair styling gel? If so, the answer is no. Styling products are made with polymers that are designed to be hard holding and to be resistant to humidity. Flax seed gel doesn’t have these properties. However, if you’re just looking for something to give hair some texture and body it might work very nicely.
