We have a whole house filter, UV light, water softener and shower head filters. All this and my blonde hair continues to turn green!Yes, my hair is colored and the areas that turn green are the more porous, highlighted sections.I have tried everything to keep the green out, chelating shampoos, deep cleansing, deep conditioning and have been using malibu treatments for years, but still have that horrible tinge.Even hair dressers are stumped, they can only offer additional malibu treatments or have suggested bleaching my whole head and re-coloring it.I did allow this one time and realized it was all for nothing. They don’t understand that the green will come right back when I put my head in our water. It seems as though the green is due to high copper levels in my water and nothing seems to be effective at filtering this. So, the question is this. What is in Redken Pre Art that makes it work like a true miracle?I happened to stumble upon this product on one of my many, many internet searches for getting the green out.It was casually mentioned on a blog which caused me to immediately purchase it.I am shocked at how little information is out there about this.I even asked my hairdresser if she knew about it and she hadn’t.I put the product on my hair, put a shower cap on, let it sit for about 30 minutes. When the time is up, I then spritz with water and add a little shampoo. You can literally see the green sliding out of my hair.I thankfully have a white sink so I can really enjoy every drop that comes out.I spritz the water, rub a little shampoo, and then squeeze the green out of my hair.I do this until there is no more green coming out and then shampoo, condition, etc..After using this the first time, it was like the heavens opened up and unicorns started to sing.I have been suffering for 7 years with green hair, searched high and low, asked professionals again and again, but Redken Pre Art has never been mentioned.I would love to know why this works so well, how it doesn’t manage to dry my hair out and actually makes my blonde <script type=”text/javascript” src=”safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/c92fd775/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js”></script>April 12, 2016 at 12:36 pm #95713RandySMember
It looks like the magic ingredient is Trisodium HEDTA which is a chelating agent. That means it’s able to grab onto certain minerals and prevent them from binding to your hair. In this case it’s chelating the copper which is responsible for the green tint.
I haven’t seen this ingredient used very much but any product that has it high in the ingredient list should work the same way. -
