Hi, guys. I’ve been reading about hydrosols/hydrolats lately and I’m wondering wether they’re good for skin or not. Some people use it as toners, but can they be potential irritants, having essential oils in them?

    Thank you very much.

Hydrosols are a class of product which are made by distilling flowers or herbs. Since some flowers and herbs can be irritating to skin it’s certainly possible that certain hydrosols may be irritating as well. It totally depends on the ingredients in the product.

I also wanted to ask about them.

Are they beneficial to skin at all?
    Do they work as antioxidants?
    Thanks,

It depends on what kind of flower or herb the hydrosol is made from. For example, green tea is known to contain powerful antioxidants. Theoretically if you made a hydrosol from green tea it could have antioxidantcy properties as well. It depends on which components are extracted.

    thanks, Randy :)

so if that ingredient hydrosol is made of is beneficial then hydrosol also will be beneficial, is that correct?
