I’ve been using a microencapsulated 0.5% retinol cream for the past month. I use it at night only, and have shifted my use of a 2% BHA gel to the mornings so I don’t irritate my skin.

I use the retinol about an hour after washing my face in the evening.
I’m curious to know if it’s ok to use a moisturizer after the retinol. Are there ingredients to avoid that might reduce the effectiveness of the retinol? Is it better for me to use nothing after the retinol? It’s a bit drying to my skin, so a moisturizer seems like a good idea but I don’t want to undo the benefits of retinol.

Using  a moisturizer after retinol is fine. Check out this post from FutureDerm for details: http://www.futurederm.com/2014/02/04/11-things-you-never-knew-about-retinol-and-retinoids—-until-now
