According to this article http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-11-22/no-evidence-of-aloe-vera-found-in-the-aloe-vera-at-wal-mart-cvs, a few aloe vera gels were tested in labs for markers of aloe in them. The products all listed aloe barbadensis leaf juice as either the #1 ingredient or #2 after water, but showed no traces of aloe. Of course, there could be some explanations for this, maybe interactions of different ingredients throwing the markers off somehow… This will hopefully be investigated further, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
Also, do you know if this could be a common problem in cosmetics maybe with other ingredients, as well? How can one ensure that at least the ingredients lists are accurate? I often have concerns about some products as their ingredients lists look a bit too good to be true, judging by product texture, skin feel, performance…
November 27, 2016 at 2:57 pm #96702RandySMemberI saw this article too – very interesting!
I would be surprised if this is a common problem because it’s so easy to put a small amount of an ingredient in a product just so you can claim it on the label. That doesn’t cost much and it keeps you within the law.Unfortunately, there’s really no way for a consumer to know just by reading the label.November 28, 2016 at 2:30 am #96718preciousiaMemberomg! @metor Thanks for the share! gosh i saw it before somewhere about how misleading companies are with “natural” ingredients.
@Randy another aloe vera gel which you guys have in America is this, i heard it doesn’t contain much aloe vera too. can you verify? it’s very common/popular. for some reason, it seems like they had a high percentage of aloe vera, which isn’t true.November 29, 2016 at 2:03 pm #96726RandySMemberI can’t verify the level of aloe in this product because the only info I have is what appears on the ingredient list.

It also contains ingredients prohibited in natural standards – and even in some countries!”ingredients: Aloe Vera Gel, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, DMDM Hydantoin, Diazolidinyl Urea, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tocopheryl Acetatewhat is Aloe Vera Gel exactly?December 2, 2016 at 2:36 pm #96747RandySMemberThis may help: Is aloe vera lotion really good for skin?
