Hi Beauty Brains
Are there any easy single ingredients I can apply to the eyelids to keep them moisturized?(or effective, inexpensive eye creams).I know you’re not supposed to use anything too heavy in the eye area so I end up never moisturizing them and I notice they get dry patches sometimes.Thank you!July 13, 2015 at 2:02 am #95107sarahfMemberI personally use cerave pm lotion all over my face, including the eye area. But I skip the (upper) eyelids because my lids are super oily–never, ever dry.
July 23, 2015 at 12:06 am #95134ginanMemberI actually been doing this too – I use the CeraVe Baby Moisturizing Lotion though – and it’s been working OK.
I think the dry patches were being caused by the new Mac shadow I was using as primer – have to return that…Now I want to find a SUNSCREEN to put on my lids – I tried my mdsolarsciences tinted one, which works OK if I don’t try to wear makeup over it…but if I put any eyeliner or mascara it slips right off my lids (I know you’re not surprised by this!) I should add that some sunscreens that are marketed to be very water resistant dry out my lids if I put them on several days in a row.July 26, 2015 at 3:30 am #95139sarahfMemberFor eye area sunscreen, I’m having good results with the Elta MD UV Physical. With that said, it is a kind of moisturizing sunscreen, so I can’t vouch for it working for everyone on the lids. The other thing that is working for me is the Laura Mercier caviar sticks (love, love). They stay on my oily lids. Also, I use a tube forming mascara, so it never runs or smears. It doesn’t budge until I take it off with warm water. For liner, I’m working on that. More about that in a separate post…
July 26, 2015 at 3:31 am #95140sarahfMemberYeah, I used a mac product as a primer that also was kind of drying and emphasized the crepey-ness of my lids. What was it called? It wasn’t paint pot, I think it was just mac paint. Supposed to be good for oily lids, but I couldn’t really get it to do much for me. Then again, I don’t have the patience for primers of any kind most of the time:)
August 3, 2015 at 5:51 pm #95166ginanMemberI’ll have to try the Laura Mercier caviar sticks…
Can you recommend some tube forming mascara/s that you like?(oh and yes I saw your separate post about tightlining – I do this (I think) every time I wear eye liner. I say “I think” because what I do is put the eyeliner on the inside of the top eyelid. I really love the way it looks. The mac product (I got it from that hot and flashy lady you pointed to, I really like her videos and tips BTW) is the Paint Pot in Painterly – great color, great consistency but it definitely irritates my lids. Haven’t returned yet (will exchange for the Caviar Stick when I do, see how that works).I’m not quite sure why I’m even looking for a different eyelid primer – I really like the Urban Decay one I’ve been using for a while…August 4, 2015 at 9:29 pm #95167sarahfMemberWell, you might not want to be so quick to get a caviar stick. I was using them, and everything was going great. Yesterday, I wore them over a primer all day, and they wandered all over my lid! After everything had been going so well. I don’t know if I used too much primer and that made them slide around, or if it’s better to skip a primer with them? Ironically, my lids were less oily than usual with the primer, but maybe the product adheres better directly on the lid. Anyway, if you want to try them, Rose Gold is a pretty base color you could start with.
