Can I have a link to the article where you looked at the claim that shampoo makes the scalp produce more oil and once you stop using shampoo your head will make less grease. This claim is frequent for the “no poo” crowd.
February 7, 2014 at 7:15 am #93392lindygirl1960MemberThe Brains may not be able to find it Rozy. It may have crashed with the old forum posts. Maybe they can find it though!
February 7, 2014 at 8:07 am #93395RandySMemberI remember the post but it’s lost after the crash. If anyone can remember key words from the title I might be able to find it in the archives.
February 7, 2014 at 1:26 pm #93396LanaMemberAre you talking about the article “Can you train your hair to be less oily” ?

February 7, 2014 at 1:35 pm #93398rozyisbackMemberThanks Lana! Sorry I knew about the trash but I didn’t know you lost it all for good except for the archives.
February 7, 2014 at 1:40 pm #93400rozyisbackMember‘No, it doesn’t. Dandruff is caused by a combination of over active
sebaceous glands and bacteria. If you don’t have dandruff, skipping your
shampoo won’t “give” it to you.’ Are you sure that is correct? bc not washing can cause an overgrowth of bacteria that could cause dandruff I think.February 7, 2014 at 3:21 pm #93401RandySMemberHey Lana, thanks for finding that post! I didn’t realize that was one that had already been restored. We had close to 3000 blog posts before the crash, now we’ve restored (or written) about 800. It’s hard for me to keep track of what we’ve written, what we’ve lost, and what’s been recovered!
February 7, 2014 at 3:22 pm #93402RandySMember@Rozy: I think what he meant was that just oil by itself doesn’t cause dandruff. You have to the bacteria as well.
February 7, 2014 at 10:44 pm #93405sarahfMemberI thought it was fungus, not bacteria?
February 8, 2014 at 7:08 am #93407RandySMemberOops. Thanks Sarah! (If I just used the generic term “micro-organisms” I wouldn’t have to worry about making this mistake.)
February 8, 2014 at 8:00 am #93409rozyisbackMemberWhats the difference between fungus and bacteria?
February 8, 2014 at 8:31 am #93412RandySMember“The major difference is that they have completely different cellular makeup.. Bacteria are said to be prokaryotic organisms, meaning they do not possess nucleus while fungi are eukaryotic organisms in which they have well-defined nucleus. Additionally, bacteria are considered unicellular microorganisms which can only be seen under a microscope whereas fungi are more complex microorganisms except for yeast.”Read more: Difference Between Fungi and Bacteria | Difference Between | Fungi vs Bacteria http://www.differencebetween.net/science/nature/difference-between-fungi-and-bacteria/#ixzz2sk0kRXcAFebruary 8, 2014 at 11:37 am #93415LanaMemberNo problem, glad to help. I was reading it few weeks ago, so it wasn’t that hard to find.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to say hello to everyone here! :-h I’m a new member but an old fan. Keep up the good work guys!
