My monistat powder-gel chafe lotion came. I think I really like it. So far, I’ve observed a couple of pros and cons.
Pros: dries down quickly to a nice finish. Makeup applies nicely over it. No weird texture.Con: Doesn’t seem to protect my cheeks as much from mineral powder irritation as the Laura Mercier sample primer I got. I may need to apply the Monistat more heavily in the area of my cheeks to be sure they’re protected.I’m interested to see the difference in ingredients between the two products. If you get a chance can you post them?
The Monistat Soothing Care Powder-Gel (I think that is the one Sarah had planned to get) has these ingredients according to the drugstore.com website:

Anyway, I’m afraid it may all be a moot point. I tried the monistat a second time and had a bad reaction. Rosacea issues (stinging/redness). I have a feeling I maybe didn’t wait long enough after applying my sunscreen, thus trapping the irritating component of the sunscreen against my skin, or else the monistat dried me out (silica?). I did feel very tight and dry all day. It wasn’t severe, but I probably won’t experiment with it again for a little while to give my skin a rest.
For what it’s worth, based on looking at the ingredients, I’d guess that the Monistat product would do a better job of shielding your skin from chemical irritation (because of the high level of silicones) but the Laura Mercer product would do a better job of protecting against physical irritation (considering it has more fatty materials which may provide more “cushioning.”)
But that’s just an educated guess.
