I’ve got some nail polishes with DBP in them – is it safe to use ?
Thanks.

May 19, 2015 at 11:23 pm #94720LittleTabbyMemberHi Randy, Thanks so much for this information. On the internet there appear to be conflicting stories about DBP and it’s safety. The site http://cosmeticsinfo.org/search/node/DBP is OK with DBP but some sites mention that DBP is an endocrine disruptor – this especially worries me due to having Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis (it is managed well with medication) so I’m wondering if using nail polish with DBP (I’ve got many of those) could cause issues for this medical condition.
Thanks.

However, if you have a specific medical reason to be concerned then you should skip products with DBP, if that makes you feel better.
May 20, 2015 at 1:39 pm #94726sarahfMemberI have yet to meet a chemical that is NOT an endocrine disruptor;) Seriously, it is claimed for a boatload of chemicals.
June 6, 2015 at 11:10 pm #94869LittleTabbyMemberThat is so true, there is also a condition known as ‘chemophobia’ which I found when googling. Also in the book ‘It’s OK to have Lead in Your Lipstick’, chapter titled ‘The problem with avoiding chemicals’ , pages 95 and 96 mention that there is little evidence that any nail Polish is unsafe.
I will now happily destroy my thyroid by painting my nails with a “toxic trio” nail polish which includes the very nasty (joking !) DBP.Beautybrains, Thank you for pointing out the TRUTH in your wonderful book, website and forum – It is very much appreciated.
June 6, 2015 at 11:12 pm #94870LittleTabbyMemberAlso, if there were issues with DBP affecting my thyroid then my doctor and endocrinologist would have told me about this. I get checked regularly.
