there is a new product out there that claims to penetrate and plump up the hair from the inside out using Filloxane. The product line is called L’oreal Volume Filler. a similar version has been on the market in the UK for several months (under the name Elvive Fibrology), and it has received glowing reviews. but who knows, those satisfied customers might be experiencing the placebo effect. Now that this stuff has hit the US market, I’m super curious to find out what the Beauty Brains will make of it.

I’m currently using the shampoo and conditioner because hey, it’s inexpensive so why not? one of the things that worries me is the shampoo contains salicylic acid. that can’t be good for hair, can it?

We took at look at this product when it came out and noticed that it has a polymer that coats hair. It claims to have a patent associated with it but we haven’t been able to track it down yet.  I doubt the sal acid is a problem – it’s used all the time in dandruff shampoos and there’s a LITTLE bit of evidence that hydroxy acids may help thicken hair.

interesting!  well, good to know about salicylic acid because I want to continue with it. I’ve been using the shampoo / conditioner for a week and the only difference I notice is that it’s fluffier — but switching to any new product does that for me at first. we’ll see….
