Yup, I’ve flared up my rosacea with too many product experiments. Time to lay off the stuff. Retinol cream, makeup, tinted sunscreen, hyaluronic acid booster(? geez)…hard to narrow down what did it. Just STOP THAT.

May 23, 2015 at 1:21 am #94743ArgonOilsTheNuRadiumMemberWhat type do you have of rosacea, Subtype 1 or 2. This is important.
Try you best to specifically remember how you felt immediately to a half hour after applying Hyaluronic acid, and please describe.
Never ever use prescription Retin-A on your face. I can help find

Never ever use prescription Retin-A on your face. I can help find you alternatives that will work eventually just stop trying to make that one work. I won’t for you. Ret Palm could be something if you’re really stubborn to have it in your routine, but it’s really weak, From what I searched, I think your best long term potential plausible anti aging shot to work into your routine is going to be a peptide. No big deal, I kind of think in your case, it theoretically good. Or like everything, pretty bad. First and foremost though you priority should be sunblock.
Hope to hear from you –
RadiumMay 23, 2015 at 3:37 am #94745sarahfMemberI’m not using prescription Retin-A, although actually this is proving useful for some with rosacea. The old school was to never prescribe it, but the newer thinking is that it helps some, you just have to go super gradually. I’m not sure I’m the some, though. And I’m not running out to try Retin-A–was just wanting to try really low strength OTC retinol. I have primarily type 1, but I do get papules too. The retinol I was using was .01% and that was every other night. But I think I need to get my skin under control before I try it again.
May 23, 2015 at 3:37 am #94746sarahfMemberThanks for the rec about peptides.
May 23, 2015 at 3:39 am #94747sarahfMemberEmma, I use metrogel. My old standby sunblock is Elta UV Clear. I’ve recently been trying the skinceuticals physical fusion (tinted). Hardly wear any makeup, but recently been experimenting more than I should (e.g., powder or blush over the sunblock). I need to wait until my face calms down to experiment.
May 26, 2015 at 9:50 pm #94768ArgonOilsTheNuRadiumMemberWoah, you weren’t using a script? That’s either one of two things. It either wasn’t the Ret-A, or it was a contributing factor, and your face suuuuper hates Ret-A…. I just read what I typed, and realized, “No friggin’ duh, that’s why she said she has no idea what caused it!” Okay, I’m caught up now…. I’m slow.
Wait, it’s helping some, *SPITS COFFEE* Well then. I’m happy for you. Like what do you mean gradually, toothpick application with jeweler’s loop x100 magnification optical precision to not apply more than a micro spec to each pore? ( I was using .025%, and it wrecked me. BTW. I wouldn’t recommend going too high with it, 1% may work.) I may have some of my special skin condition ingredients and notes for when i was going to attempt making a few diy products. Want me to check and see what I might still have saved to my email?
I would discontinue all use niacinamide for a reasonable bit, say 3 weeks. both internal intake and external application. See if that helps to make a significant improvement to your skin, if not, don’t worry, and continue your usual. I was reading a few reports, and it’s something I personally would try if I were you even if you’re type one. ….. And because it makes me curious to see if the correlations apply to type one too. Let me know if you want links to niacinamide / rosacea thing, Usually I would, but I’m going to go get lunch.
