I received this product as a sample and while it kind of rings my BS bell, I’m curious to know if there’s any science behind the claims.
The product claims to help boost your skin’s immune system to fight/prevent fine lines, dark circles, etc. Same claims as most eye products. But it ALSO claims it will enhance the effectiveness of your other eye creams.
One ingredient is glycerin which I know is good to lock in moisture but I can’t help but think all this product is is a ploy for you to feel you need to add another unnecessary step to your skin regimen.
Here are the ingredients if helpful:
Water, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, Sd Alcohol 40-B (Alcohol Denat.), Sorbitol, Xylitol, Methyl Gluceth-10, Sodium Chloride, Peg-10 Dimethicone, Peg/Ppg-19/19 Dimethicone, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Phenoxyethanol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Erythritol, Nylon-12, Cellulose Gum, Tocopheryl Acetate, Peg/Ppg-14/7 Dimethyl Ether, Peg/Ppg-17/4 Dimethyl Ether, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Fragrance, Butylene Glycol, Tocopherol, Trisodium Edta, Ectoin, Linalool, Sodium Metabisulfite, Geraniol, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract (Ginkgo Biloba), Citronellol, Sodium Carboxymethyl Beta-Glucan, Thymus Serpillum Extract, Perilla Ocymoides Leaf Extract.
“Rings your BS bell.” I like that.
This product appears to be a fairly sophisticated moisturizer which is fine. I don’t see anything that would “boost the skin’s immune system.”I don’t see any of the standard anti-aging ingredients (like retinoids or peptides) that might “fight/prevent fine lines.”I’m not aware of any technology that’s really effective against dark under eye circles other than concealers.The bottom line is that I don’t see any special science that would make this product worth more.The link contains some technical details about its technology:
Wow, thanks for the link! This is very intriguing but also very complicated. The article makes it clear that there’s something to this but I’m still not convinced how solid it is because I haven’t seen the study design, the statistics, or an indication of how great the proposed effect is. Still, this is something new that I hadn’t seen and I’ll keep an eye on it.
