    Hi Randy!

I’ve been wanting to get a product to help my hair color from fading.

In one of your posts you mention that…

“Tresemme Color Revitalize shampoo and conditioner are effective, particularly on reddish-brown shades. (Tip: Don’t waste money on hair products that charge more because they contain expensive UV absorbers. Sunscreens do very little to preserve color.)”

I might try the Tresemme product…but was more looking for something I could leave in the hair, thinking anything I leave in might have more lasting protection than a shampoo/conditioner.

This is a product from Living Proof…does it contain anything that would help preserve color? (and even if it does, does it seem like it might do a better job than the Tresemme products? Because it’s not cheap…)

Alcohol Denat., Hydrofluorocarbon 152a, Water/Eau/Aqua, Butylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol Dibenzoate, Octafluoropentyl Methacrylate (OFPMA), Polyglyceryl‐10 Pentaoleate, Panthenyl Ethyl Ether, Linoleamidopropyl Ethyldimonium Ethosulfate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, PPG‐5‐Ceteth‐20, Panthenol, Fragrance/Parfum, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citronellol, Limonene
    Thanks!

As we said, we’re skeptical of any product that claims to provide uniform UV protection for hair which is how this product claims to work. If they have test data to prove it protects color under real world conditions then it could be worth the money. Otherwise I’m left wondering what extra benefit it provides for the money.

@RandyS I have some sunscreen UV sprays for the hair. The Paul Mitchell Color Protect Locking Spray, UV Protection. The product is pretty old and i am guessing perhaps the sunscreen filters would have “expired” / no longer effective. Can you advise?

If the product is more than three years old you might be better off throwing it away.

    OK thanks Randy.

(maybe I’ll send them an email asking them if they have that kind of test data…but I’m thinking if they did they’d be talking about it.)
