It takes me a while to detangle my hair after shampoo. I squeeze out as much water as I can before applying conditioner. I then take a wide tooth comb and work from my ends to my roots.
Is the shampoo the issue? I use a silicone and polyquaternium free shampoo. Clear formulas seem to clean better and leave my hair less dull. Maybe a polyquaternium in a clear formula would help? I worry about buildup though.
It’s certainly true that shampoos without any conditioning agents can leave hair more tangled. The good news is there are a million different shampoos you can try until you find one that gives you the right amount of detangling without giving you buildup.
Good luck in your search!
