Hello everyone! My name’s Samanta It’s already the third year I’ve been fighting my acne. The thing
is that, I’m allergic to tretinoin. As my doctor said, it’s the form of vitamin A, which is used in different
creams, gels and lotions to treat acne. That’s why common product which many people use to deal with
it, are forbidden for me. All in all, I was prescribed antibiotics which should have destroyed bacteria and
reduce inflammation. However, this treatment didn’t help me. Have you faced such problem? I would
be grateful to hear about your experience. Thank you!October 10, 2017 at 7:51 pm #97553RandySMemberMaybe you should visit a different doctor. There are other prescription medications that may help you.

This one http://uptownspa.com/service/microdermabrasion/ I’m asking because my daughter has also had acne problem. We have tried numerous creams and pills without success. Once, before my sister’s wedding we have gone to our local spa salon to have rest and prepare ourselves for the event. While checking the list of treatments available, I’d found that there is such a procedure. During microdermabrasion there are no chemicals used. It works by vacuum action. I guess, that’s your case. This procedure should be in some of your local spas. Good luck. I hope this will
help you.October 14, 2017 at 4:03 pm #97556Acute_triangleMemberI’d suggest that you get an allergy screen. Are you allergic to the active ingredient or something else in the cream?
Visiting a different doctor couldn’t hurt.
I have acne and I’m not one of those fortunate ones who age out of it. My skin has generally been responsive to a lot of treatments. I don’t favor antibiotics because of antibiotic resistance and the last thing I need is antibiotic resistant acne.
There are more options than tretinoin. Here are some of the things that worked for me:
Benzamycin + Sulfacet R Lotion (both Rx)
10% Benzoyl Peroxide Wash + 10-2 Glycolic Acid/Salicylic acid pads (the first two, you can get online w/o a Rx – they’re under the name Replenix) +Retinoid (Rx)
I stopped the first routine because I went off the college and then my dermatologist passed away. I also got insecure about constantly needing to use antibiotic gel on my skin. The 2nd routine I stopped because the routine hurt – the wash bleached a lot of fabrics, putting on the glyo/sal pads after the wash stung so bad that I’d stand in front of the open freezer to try to calm my skin down. The full combo also sensitized my skin to where I got 2nd degree sunburns on my upper lip one time when I was wearing sunscreen.
A conclusion that I’m coming to is that when it comes to skincare, a lot of it is trial and error because everyone’s skin is different. When you go to a dermatologist, you’re seeking well informed medical advice, but they can’t ever definitively tell you what will or will not work for you which is why they give you something to try and schedule a follow up to see how it’s working.
I’d suggest that you keep track of things that you tried and how long you used them for. Tell that to your dermatologist so you can both try going down a different route rather than something similar to what you’ve tried already.
