Hi Randy and Perry,Could you answer two questions about TRESemme Expert Selection Heat Activated Treatment, 7 Day Keratin Smooth 3 oz?1. Does it contain a polyelectrolyte complex? It has polyquaternium 28 and PVM/MA copolymer, and TRESemme’s other product line has it, so I think it does, but I wanted to check with you.2. What’s with the safety warning about eye contact? The bottle has several warnings about eye contact. It seems to have more eye warnings than most products. Is there something in it that is especially bad for eyes? Is it the Aspartic Acid? And whatever it is, is it also damaging to hair? I’m wondering if this product breaks down the protein bonds in hair similar to how a perm solution does, and if that’s how it makes hair stay straight, or if it is all due to the polyelectrolyte complex.I love your blog and podcast! First of all, thanks for your iTunes review! Now, on to your questions…1. Yes, this product contains the Polyelectrolyte Complex ingredients. That means that it has the ability mend split ends better than most products.2. I’m not sure why there are additional eye warnings. It’s not the aspartic acid because we’ve used that for years without any problem. My guess is that it’s due to some of the more unique ingredients like Polyquaternium Crosspolymer-3 or Distearoylethyl Dimonium Chloride. In either case I wouldn’t worry about it – just about all hair care products can sting like hell if you get them in your eyes. That doesn’t mean that they’re any more damaging to your hair.There doesn’t appear to be anything in this product that would break down the disulfide bonds in hair so I’m assuming it works by surface treating the cuticle to keep it smooth.
