I used to see ‘rose quartz’ in a lot of cosmetics. I thought it made some red colors in makeup look nicer. Recently in my ‘Revlon color stay blush ‘I noticed an ingredient ‘rose quartz’, I haven’t seen this around much lately is there any reason why? Also What is rose quartz ? Is it considered a colorant , and what does it do?
March 27, 2014 at 12:12 pm #93929RandySMemberRose quartz is not an approved colorant, that I’m aware of. If you can send me a link to the ingredient list of the product in question I’ll take a look at it.

March 28, 2014 at 7:46 am #93935RandySMemberThanks for the link! I was able to find the complete ingredient list online (see below.)
You’ll notice that after each ingredient which is a colorant there is a “CI” followed by a number. This is the Color Index number which must be listed for each colorant. You’ll also notice that topaz and rose quartz do NOT have CI numbers which means they are not functioning as colorants in this product. My guess is that the manufacturer is just adding these ingredients to make the product appear to be more of legitimate in terms of its mineral content. Crushed minerals like these are used at very low levels and have no functionality.

(Because the lists also includes ‘ mother of pearl’s and ‘topaz’. )Why don’t we see ‘ rose quartz ‘ in cosmetics more often espescially ‘ mineral mskeup’? Are there few manufacturers selling it?
March 28, 2014 at 8:34 am #93919RandySMemberCan it be an “illuminator?” Very unlikely. Besides, there are cheaper, more efficient ingredients that do a better job of this.
Why don’t we see rose quartz in more cosmetics? Because it doesn’t do anything!March 28, 2014 at 9:14 am #93938Eire1MemberThanks
