Your thoughts on MitoQ Cellular Energising Crème Serum also known as MitoQ Moisturizing Anti-Aging Serum, please. Thank you!
June 21, 2016 at 10:54 pm #95847RandySMemberThis product has a pretty straight forward formula:Aqua, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate,Dicapryl Carbonate, Glycerin, Mitoquinol Mesylate, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol. The only ingredient that may possess any anti-aging properties is the Mitoquinol Mesylate. This is (supposedly) a super-charged version of Co-Enzyme Q-10 which has been used in skin care for the past 20 years or so. I don’t know much about this specific ingredient because I couldn’t find anything in the published literature on its effect on skin.According to this website https://www.consumerhealthdigest.com/wrinkle-cream-reviews/mitoq-anti-aging-serum.html the supplier ran a clinical trial on the ingredient and found the following:“The research study happened at the London Dermatology Centre and it involved both female and male patients with ages between 32 and 47 years old. To examine the texture of the skin, identify, and count fine lines & wrinkles, MitoQ used Visia scans. For a period of 8 weeks, the patients used the moisturizing formula and the trial was concluded with surprising results: 69% of the patients mentioned the redness of their skin was gone, 62% claimed improved texture in the skin, and 46% went through an irrefutable reduction of UV blemishes and spots.”That doesn’t tell us much because there’s no context for these numbers and we don’t know if the study was blinded and placebo controlled. The active ingredient appears to be a promising pharmaceutical agent but without some data on skin penetration and/or studies comparing it to other anti-aging actives, I can’t really say it’s worth the money. -
