hello everyone! as you can imagine already by reading my title i wanted to ask you a question: when i should reapply my sunscreen? i actually did my research but all the results were pretty contraddictory, as for physical sunscreens i read you must reapply every 2 hours while for chemicals i read some of them (the newer ones) last up to 8 hours (of course, depends on which filter we’re talking about and excluding unstable ones). so, what’s the truth?
July 25, 2017 at 1:14 pm #97215RandySMemberFrom what I’ve seen most products still need to be reapplied every couple of hours. If you are using a newer product that specifically states it lasts longer then I suppose you can apply less frequently. This is one of those cases where it’s better to be safe than sorry.
July 26, 2017 at 11:16 am #96975violetMemberyou’re right, it’s still better to reapply it every 2 hours just in case to be sure then get a burn honestly (even if reapplication over makeup is so difficult yikes). when i’m at the beach i always reapply it immediately but i was wondering on daily use. some filters like avobenzone, octinoxate or octisalate can degrade significantly through the day, stabilizing with newer filters should reduce this but still i don’t know exactly for how long so i’ll never know for sure. thank you!

August 18, 2017 at 3:07 am #97490buttle123MemberI often apply sunscreen 15 minutes BEFORE going outdoors, and reapply sunscreen approximately every two hours, or after swimming or sweating, according to the directions on the sunscreen’s bottle.
August 24, 2017 at 1:29 am #97495LudiviFloresMemberI think every 2 hours is quite enough, the sun blockers don’t reflect the sun, it absorbs the ultraviolet without letting the light to touch your skin. So, once you go out the layer of your protection cream begins to absorb the sun and as far as you understand, the formula of the cream cannot absorbing it continuously, therefore you should refresh it from time to time (or every 2 hours in your case)
August 26, 2017 at 11:11 am #97502Doffy90MemberIf you’re wearing makeup and need to reapply, invest in a powdered sunscreen. No one will realistically redo their entire face just to reapply, so powders are a quick and great alternative. There’s one from Colorscience, Eminence and another one I can’t remember the name of.
