    Hello Brains!

    I’ve stumbled upon several references stating that sodium chloride is an extremely comedogenic ingredient. Is it true?

    I think not. Sodium chloride shows up on several places on the internet as being highly comedogenic but I’ve never seen it listed in any of the technical literature. (Which makes sense since it’s a component of sweat.)

    this is interesting. when i sweat and do not wipe it for a while, i get breakouts. i wonder if the reason could be the mixture of sodium chloride and sebum. as far as i understand in cosmetics sodium chloride functions as viscosity Increasing agent.

    That’s only true for surfactant systems where the salt “hides” the charge of the surfactant molecules and allows them to pack closer together.
