Can kinoki detox foot pads save your sole?

Erin Inquires: Can you tell me how Kinoki Detox Foot Pads work or is it a hoax? It is a product that you place on your feet to remove the toxins from your body.

The Left Brain de-feets Kinoki:

I’m going with HOAX on this one, Erin.

The power of vinegar

According to their website, Kinoki Detox Foot Pads claim to draw harmful toxins through the bottom of your feet by using distilled bamboo vinegar. All you do is place the pads on the soles of your feet. As you sleep, the vinegar sucks the evil toxins from all your organs, through your blood stream, until they pass through the bottom of your foot where they are absorbed by the pad. It works on all kinds of contaminants including heavy metals, metabolic waste, microscopic parasites, mucous and even cellulite. You can tell it really works because as the pad absorbs toxins it changes color from white to gray-black.

What a load of crap!

The idea that toxins can be sucked out of your body through the soles of your feet is completely absurd. Dr. Stephen Barrett, M.D., part of the Quackwatch network, did a great job of debunking detox foot patches. He points out that skin is not a permeable membrane, so substances will not easily flow out of the body through the skin. And even if materials could pass through the skin this way, that’s not how detoxification works. True detox involves the liver and kidneys working together to filter the blood. The skin just doesn’t work that way; all it can do is emit sweat, which contains water and salt (and a little sebum).

The Beauty Brains bottom line

This entire concept is so unscientific that it boggles the mind. Yet, even Amazon.com sells detox pads like this! Let the buyer beware!

I, as a practicing Pharmacist have used the detox foot patch for quite a few of my relatives who are suffering from diabetic neuropathy, arthritis etc. Post use there are marked improvement in these cases like there are total relief of tingling/burning sensation of foot/leg. There are also visible reduction of swelling and pain in cases of osteo- arthritis. Even patients with non healing wounds have felt relief after using foot patch. I have heard about the use of nano- biotechnology in making the Foot patches which has been envisaged to work on the principle of Foot reflexology. If it is untrue that Foot patch can remove toxins, heavy metals etc from the body then how these patients are getting relieved from their unbearable symptoms of pain, burning sensation and swelling of joints? It will be ideal and prudent to use the product and experience by oneself rather relying on the controversial statements . Try it and give a chance to alternative healthcare promotional products too.

Thanks for your comment, SK, but we believe in evidence-based medicine (and beauty products.) The patients you described could be experiencing benefits due to a placebo effect.

Foot pads do work. Your problem is, you draw conclusions that aren’t based on anything but your stubborn ego. The East has been the leader in natural healing for centuries. I see immediate relief from using them, with my pain dropping from a 9 or 10 to a 2 or 3. Before you start claiming placebo effect, you might study natural medicine and the feet, and try them yourself. Studies show one of the main reasons for neuropathy are toxins in the feet and hands. Niacin detoxes the body through the skin, bypassing the liver, so the liver is not the only way the body detoxes. Do your home work, you’re doing more harm than good by trying to be right, when you’re not. A wise man knows when to admit he is wrong, and he is wiser for it. An ignorant man tenaciously argues and fights, to try and keep from being proved wrong. Our current President for example. Don’t be like him.

Hi George. Can you please provide a link to the studies you mentioned showing that toxins in the hands and feet are the cause of pain? Likewise, I’d love to see evidence that “niacin detoxes the body through the skin.” Simply arguing that “the east has been the leader in natural healing for centuries” is not persuasive because it’s the logical fallacy called “the arguement from antiquity.” But if there is credible scientific proof of what you say I’ll gladly change my opinion.

I had so much pain and burn in my right foot I couldn’t sleep. The fan on did not help I placed a pad on the ball of my foot and got instant relief. I was able to fall asleep and couldn’t believe the relief I got. I have nothing to gain by telling you this I just want to let others know it stopped my pain without tablets. I have arthritis in my foot.

If there is any mustard in the pads that is also a wonderful detox and cleanser for the feet. Mustard also cures athlete’s foot. The Chinese use mustard a lot for bathing to clear the skin of imperfections and toxins. I totally believe foot pads would indeed draw out toxins and there are many herbs/oils that you can use as well as sulfur, coconut oil, tea tree oil, etc.

Thank God for Kinoki Foot Pads, I have been concerned about the toxic build up in my body ever since aliens abducted me six years ago. These little miracle pads took care of all the interplanetary toxins, not to mention the alien viruses I was exposed to. My advise to you is to buy a years supply and use them every day, one on each foot and one on your forehead. As an added bonus, the little aluminum foil wrapper the pads come in makes a great hat, shielding your brain from the cosmic rays sent by alien forces in an attempt to program all of humankind for self-annihilation. So do it today, after all the giant frog commands it.

Never know why people when they write on the net have to use dirty language. If they put it in print they must use bad language all the time at home. Women are far worse than men.
