    Hey there,

I have been using CeraVe Facial Moisturizer for a few years now because a dermatologist recommended it. I like it, but I am just wondering if there is anything on the market that may be a little more affordable? (I heard most dermatologists recommend this because they partner with Valeant?) Here are the ingredients:
    Active Ingredients: Homosalate (12%)
    Octinoxate (7.5%)
    Octocrylene (2%)
Zinc Oxide (3.5%)Inactive Ingredients: Water (Purified)
    Niacinamide
    Behentrimonium Methosulfate (and)
    Cetearyl Alcohol
    Glycerin
    Aluminum Starch
    OctenylSuccinate
    Boron Nitrate
    Dimethicone
    Ceramide 3
    Ceramide 6 11
    Ceramide 1
    Ceteareth 20 (and)
    Cetearyl Alcohol
    Phytosphingosine
    Hyaluronic Acid
    Cholesterol
    Polyglyceryl 3 Diisostearate
    Potassium Phosphate
    Hydroxyetheylcellulose
    Disodium EDTA
    Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate
    Methylparaben
    Propylparaben
    Carbomer
    Xanthan Gum

    Thanks!!!

I haven’t been able to find anything that’s even close to this formula. (In terms of the UV absorber mix and the high level of niacinamide.) If I come across anything I’ll let you know.

I love Cerave–the PM version, without sunscreen.  Some of the sunscreens in the AM version bother my skin, so I layer the PM version under my favorite sunscreen for daytime.  The only thing I can think of is that it doesn’t have a high concentration of zinc oxide, so maybe the UVA coverage isn’t as high as it could be, say, for someone with hyperpigmentation (melasma, which I have)?  I don’t know.  I use a product with 9% ZO.
